Andrew is pursuing research regarding the Versatile Test Reactor (VTR) and cybersecurity of the instrumentation and control systems of nuclear power plants. Part of this research involves Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling of transient systems and coupling dynamic physics models with both real and emulated Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The CFD modeling will enable pump design optimization for novel working fluids. Coupling physics with PLC's allows analysis of plant systems under cyber attack and the analysis of automated controllers response to time sensitive events.
